Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks, if requested. They also carry out hypertension reviews, NHS Health checks, flu and other immunisations independently.  They are qualified to dress complex wounds and to undertake many tasks that traditionally a Nurse may have carried out.  They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Phlebotomists

Our phlebotomists run daily clinics for blood tests.  Please be aware that blood tests are not carried out after 3.00 in the afternoon - this is due to the time of our collection from the Horton Hospital.  We also cannot do INR tests on Fridays - this is due to the capacity in the pathology laboratory.
