Clinics and Services
Cervical Screening
Women aged between 24 and 64 should have a cervical screening every 3 to 5 years to help prevent cervical cancer. The screening is quick and painless and can be done here in the practice.
If you are aged over 24 and have never had a smear test, or if it has been more than 3 to 5 years since your last screening, you should arrange an appointment with our Practice Nurse.
You should not have the test while you are having a period or in the 4 days before or after your period as this can affect the sample.
Childhood Vaccinations
One of the most important things that a parent can do for their child is to make sure that they have all their routine childhood vaccinations. It's the most effective way of keeping them protected against infectious diseases.
Ideally, children should have their jabs at the right age to protect them as early as possible and minimise the risk of infection.

NHS Dental Care
As your GP surgery, we are unable to offer emergency or routine dental care or treatment. As GPs we are not trained or indemnified to treat dental conditions and so we cannot issue prescriptions for dental issues.
If you are not registered with a dentist, the NHS dental care scheme covers patients who require:
- Urgent unscheduled care: patients who may require clinical care within 24 hours or as soon as practically possible, unless the condition worsens; or
- Non-urgent unscheduled care: patients requiring dental care within 7 days, unless the conditions worsen.
If you require unscheduled dental care, please contact NHS 111 who are able to signpost you to practices taking part in this scheme locally.

Health Checks
Who is the NHS Health Check for?
NHS Health Checks are offered to people aged 40 to 74 with no underlying health conditions. Patients are invited every 5 years until the age of 74.
What are the benefits of having an NHS Health Check?
The NHS Health Check is designed to spot early signs of conditions that affect your heart and circulation, such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease. By identifying your risk early, it gives you the chance to take steps that can help protect your long‑term health.
Many of these conditions don’t cause symptoms at first - for example, high blood pressure or high cholesterol can go unnoticed for years. The Health Check helps pick up these issues early so you can take action before they become more serious.
During your appointment, we look at a range of risk factors. These can also be linked to other conditions such as type 2 diabetes, some preventable cancers, and respiratory illnesses. This means your NHS Health Check could also help reduce your risk of developing these conditions too.
What happens at an NHS Health Check?
The NHS Health Check is a free appointment that looks at your overall heart and circulatory health. It usually takes 20 to 30 minutes.
During the appointment, we will:
- Measure your height and weight
- Check your blood pressure
- Take a cholesterol and blood sugar test
You'll also be asked some questions about your health and lifestyle, such as:
- Whether any close relatives have certain medical conditions
- If you smoke or drink alcohol, and how much
- How active you are
Once the check is complete, we’ll talk through your results and discuss any steps you can take to look after your long‑term health.
